Gujarat Health Minister Nitin Patel was today shown black flags by Congress workers for "blanking" the opposition party at the inauguration function of a drainage scheme at Dahegam village in Gandhinagar district.
Congress MLA from Dahegam constituency Kaminiba Rathod alleged that the minister and bureaucrats deliberately not followed the protocol by not mentioning names of Congress workers in the schedules of the event and on the plaque at the function.
"From the leaflets of the programme to the inaugural plate, the entire programme seemed to be BJP's party event," Rathod said, adding "the incident happened because the minister-ranked person did not follow the necessary protocol and the bureaucrats too followed him."
Patel was shown black flags when he was sitting on stage at the event.
"Names of our party workers were intentionally not included in the schedules. They wanted to make it a BJP event therefore our Congress party has protested against the event," the MLA said, adding that BJP's allegations that Congress was not interested in welfare of people are false.
When contacted, BJP's state unit spokesperson Harshad Patel termed the incident as a "publicity stunt".
"Congress leaders are a frustrated lot and doing such publicity stunts because of that. They should rather approach people than doing such frivolous acts," Patel said.
