Gur plunges on pick-up in arrival of new gur

Gur (jaggery) prices tumbled down up to Rs 300 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following constant arrivals amid scattered buying by stockists and retailers.
Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also displayed a weak trend with prices falling by up to Rs 375 per quintal on huge stocks of new gur.
Marketmen said mounting stocks on regular arrivals from manufacturing belts, mainly attributed fall in gur prices.
In Delhi, the notable fall of Rs 300 per quintal exhibited in gur Chakku prices at Rs 3,000-3,100, while gur pedi, dhayya and shakkar prices declined by Rs 100 each to end at Rs 3,200-3,300, Rs 3,400-3,500 and Rs 3,500-3,600 per quintal, respectively.
At Muzaffarnagar, gur chakku suffered the most by falling Rs 375 at Rs 2,600-3,000, meanwhile khurpa and laddoo prices dropped by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,700-2,750 and Rs 2,850-3,000 per quintal, respectively.
Coming to Muradnagar, prices of gur pedi and dhayya slipped by Rs 50 each to finish at Rs 2,800-2,850 and Rs 2,900-2,950 per quintal, respectively.
Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):
Gur chakku Rs 3,000-3,100, pedi Rs 3,200-3,300, dhayya Rs 3,400-3,500 and shakkar Rs 3,500-3,600.
Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,850-2,900, chakku Rs 2,600-3,000, khurpa Rs 2,700-2,750 and Ladoo Rs 2,850-3,000.
Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,800-2,850 and dhayya Rs 2,900-2,950.
