The 39-year-old, who stars as Pepper Potts, the love interest of Downey, in the film, reprises her role in the third film in the series.
Film's producer Kevin Feige hinted at a possibility of seeing Paltrow's character as Rescue in the armored hero film franchise, reported Aceshowbiz.
In Marvel comics, there is a story that follows Potts in her own armor.
"Everyone at this table thinks it would be the coolest thing in the world to see Pepper get in the suit at some point," Feige said.
Jon Favreau, who helmed the first two "Iron Man" movies, said that there have been talks to bring Rescue into the big screen someday.
"We almost did it a few times; we talked about it a lot. I think we all share your enthusiasm for that, and we all want to see Gwyneth kick a little ass," he said.
"Iron Man 2" will hit the theaters on May 3, 2013.
