Pakistan's young left-arm spinner, Reza Hasan has made a satisfactory recovery from a back injury that needed to be operated upon.
Hasan, 20, who has played seven T20 internationals, was out of the action for nearly five months after the last ICC T20 World Cup due to back injury-related disorders in his spine.
The youngster was asked to appear before a medical board inquiry by the Pakistan Cricket Board today after he played for Sialkot Stallions in the ongoing national Super Eights T20 championship without waiting for final clearance from the doctors.
"Hasan appeared before the medical board and also underwent a full fitness test before he was given a clear certificate by the specialists and he has now been allowed to continue playing in the super eights event," a board source said.
The source said the medical board expressed concern over his going straight into the tournament without first confirming about his rehabilitation period
"He is a promising young bowler and the board had spent a lot of money on helping him recover from the career threatening injury so naturally they want to be sure about his return to full fitness," the source said.
Hasan is considered a T20 specialist bowler and the selectors feel he has the potential to replace veteran Abdul Rehman in the national team in other formats of the game.
