The Delhi High Court has extended its earlier order staying criminal proceedings against former Delhi Police Commissioner Ajay Raj Sharma in a property dispute case.
A bench of Justice Sunil Gaur, which also ordered that the copies of the petition be served on respondents including Pramod Sharma, said that its April 25 order, by which criminal proceedings against former top cop was stayed, will remain in force till September 12, the next date of hearing.
Sharma, who has been fighting court cases in relation to a property allegedly purchased by him at Ashok Nagar in 2005, has challenged the order passed by a sessions court court on April 15.
The plea, filed through lawyers Akshay Malik and Pramod Kumar Dubey, has also challenged a subsequent order of a magisterial court which, in pursuance of the sessions judge's direction, ordered registration of an FIR against the former Police Commissioner in the case.
The high court, while issuing notice to the parties, had said that the trial court orders "shall remain stayed".
It had also said that a copy of the Supreme Court verdict be circulated among all the lower court judges that in criminal revision pleas all parties concerned be heard before passing of any coercive order.
The police official, in his plea, said that the sessions court never granted him a chance to explain his stand and passed an ex parte order.
