The single bench of Justice N N Tiwari rejected the notification for a CBI probe issued by the Union Home Ministry on the recommendation of Jharkhand government after the CBI informed the bench that secret funds were not audited and cited a Supreme Court order in this regard.
Soon after the notification, Ram moved the court appealing against it on the same ground and obtained a stay on a CBI probe.
The state had recommended for the CBI probe after a PIL had been filed in the high court against Ram accusing the former DGP of withdrawing approximately Rs 6.5 crore in 2006 and Rs 1.5 crore in 2008 from the SS Funds, used to gather information.
