The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court today fixed January 27 as the next date of hearing the petition against Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Azam Khan, challenging his membership of the state legislative assembly.
The order was passed by a division bench comprising Amreshwar Pratap Sahi and justice Attau Rahman Masoodi on a writ petition filed by Raza Husain and another challenging Azam Khan's membership of the state assembly as he allegedly holds an office of profit by virtue of being the Chancellor of Maulana Jauhar Ali University, Rampur.
Earlier, the court had given time to Azam's counsel to file his affidavit.
