Medical care was neglected in Andhra Pradesh under the previous Congress Government but things have improved after the TDP-led dispensation assumed power in 2014, K Ravindra, Excise and BC Welfare Minister, said today.
The TDP-led Government was taking a series of measures to streamline the medical and healthcare sector in the State. The previous Congress Government had neglected this key sector, he said.
He was speaking after inaugurating Dr NTR Vaidya Seva at Andhra Hospital here.
He said 250 medical services were brought under NTR Vaidya Seva, a health scheme of the Naidu Government.
According to the Government, Dr NTR Vaidya Seva is the flagship scheme of all health initiatives of the State with a mission to provide quality healthcare to the poor. The aim of the Government is to achieve "Health for All" in order to facilitate the effective implementation of the scheme.
Shikha Dass, one of the HCAH Nurses from Chandigarh who
participated in the training shared her learnings, "This experience was extremely fruitful for us. The first half of the workshop was theory-centric and the second half was practical-focused in which we had to work in groups." Joyous, another HCAH Nurse from Delhi was also glad that she participated in the training, "The practical lessons will help me to serve my patients and their family members in a better way now."
"HealthCare atHOME addresses the challenge of shortage of doctors by training and empowering healthcare professionals so that the pressure of follow-up treatments is taken off from treating doctors and surgeons. In a way we help create a second line of healthcare professionals who are highly trained and equipped to carry forward treatment protocols set by the treating doctor", said Dr. Gaurav Thukral, Sr. Vice President & Business Unit Director, HCAH.
Over the last few years, there has been a rapid growth in home-based healthcare services. In India, there is only 1 hospital bed for every 1,050 patients1. The limited number of beds in hospitals demand an effective alternative such as home-based healthcare. Investment in home health care can reduce the gap of the high demands of quality care that hospitals alone cannot fulfill.
