Heavy arrival causes decrease in turmeric price

Price of the spot variety of turmeric was decreased by Rs 200 a quintal at the Erode turmeric market today, due to heavy arrival of the spice.
"The traders are having sufficient upcountry orders, but the prices were started decreasing. Today 8500 bags of turmeric arrived for sale and the traders after examining the lots, quoted decreased price", R K V Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association said.
The finger turmeric was sold at Rs 5499 to Rs 8588 a quintal, root variety at Rs 5399 to Rs 7499 a quintal.
