Heavy overnight rains in parts of Uttarakhand

Heavy overnight rains coupled with high speed winds occurred today at isolated places in Uttarakhand including Dehradun, uprooting trees and affecting power supply.
There was no power throughout last night at many places in the state capital already reeling under high humidity levels.
Residents who were kept awake by a prolonged power breakdown past midnight had to put up with frequent outages even today.
Devparayag in Tehri district received a maximum of 90.8 MM of rain followed by Lansdown (82MM) and Dehradun (71.8MM), the MeT department said.
However, light to moderate rains hit many places including Mussoorie (30MM), Kosani (25MM) and Almora (16.4MM), it said.
