The identity of the woman could not be ascertained yet and the the most crucial lead in the case at present is the bag in which the body was shoved in and dumped, said police.
A case of murder has been registered and a team has been formed to crack the case, said DCP (Northeast) Veenu Bansal.
The cloths on the deceased person's body was found in tact, which doesn't suggest any form of sexual assault yet. However, things will be clear only when a postmortem examination is conducted, said police.
The police are tracking missing person records in all police stations and locals in Welcome area are being questioned. CCTV footage from premises close to the drain where the body was found is also being checked, police added.
A week ago, body of an unidentified woman, aged around 30 years, was found inside a trunk dumped in a drain in northeast Delhi's Usmanpur area.
