HP CM lays foundation stones for various health infra projects

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today laid foundation stones for various facilities at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in Chamba and Dr Y S Parmar Medical College in Nahan online from Peterhoff here.
Union Health Minister J P Nadda and his state counterpart Kaul Singh Thakur were present on the occasion.
Foundation stones were laid for Maternal and Child Health wings (MCHW) at the Dr Y S Parmar Medical College, Tanda-based Dr Rajendra Prasad Medical College, Nurpur Civil Hospital, Una Regional Hospital, Sundernagar Civil Hospital, Bilaspur Regional Hospital and Solan District Hospital, an official release said.
The total expenditure to be incurred on establishing facilities at the medical colleges in Chamba and Nahan is estimated at Rs 452 crore, it said.
Besides, foundation stones were also laid for a GNM training school at Tanda, tertiary cancer care centre at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College and Hospital in Mandi and an indoor block for the Ghumarwin Civil Hospital.
The purpose of MCHW is to meet the health requirements of pregnant woman. The wings will also house operation theatres, labour rooms, ICUs, newborn care units and ante-natal and post natal blocks, the chief minister said.
The government has made a provision of Rs 112 crore for the MCHWs in the seven health institutions, he said.
Nadda said that Rs 45 crore would be spent on the tertiary cancer care centre and Rs 12.55 crore has been provided for a GNM Training School at the Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College and Hospital in Tanda.
The cancer care centre will have facilities like radiotherapy and provide diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation, the minister said.
