A man, suspected to be part of a human trafficking racket, was today apprehended from the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here for allegedly attempting to travel on fake documents to a foreign location.
Officials said the incident was reported at around 1:00 AM when on-duty CISF officers detected suspicious movements of a man identified as Nikunj Patel, who entered the terminal to travel to Amsterdam using a different and fake name of Urvish Patel.
They said Patel is understood to have a got a hint that CISF personnel were monitoring him and hence, shelving his original plan, he obtained a second boarding pass to travel to Mumbai.
Officials said Patel had got the first boarding pass to Amsterdam using fake documents in the name of Urvish Patel and as soon as his security check was done, he went inside a bathroom, changed his clothes, tore his boarding pass to Amsterdam and came out.
"Patel was intercepted by CISF personnel and handed over to immigration authorities at the airport. He confessed his original name was Nikunj Patel. The case was later transferred to Delhi Police," they said.
It is suspected that Patel was part of a human trafficking racket and was trying to leave the country using fake papers and identity, officials said, adding investigations are on to crackdown on the entire syndicate.
