Kalpana Tiwari became a role model of sorts for others with her organs being donated to the needy after she was pronounced 'brain dead' by doctors.
Tiwari (41) complained of chest pain and fell unconscious on the night of June 28 and was rushed to a hospital in the city.
She was resuscitated immediately and put on ventilator, however, she was declared 'brain dead' yesterday.
Members of Lions Club of Hyderabad (East) and Mohan Foundation, an organisation working in the area of organ donation, spoke to the family members and requested that Kalpana's organs be donated.
"Recalling that his wife had earlier expressed wish to donate her organs if something untoward happens to her, Manoj Tiwari gave his consent," Mohan Foundation said in a release today.
Kalpana's kidneys, liver, heart valves and eyes were donated to different city hospitals, it said.
She had attended a 'prarthana sabha' of another organ donor in February last, according to the release.
Grieving the loss of his wife, Manoj Tiwari said he was kind of happy that he could able to fulfil his wife's wish and that she will continue to live in seven needy people, the release said.
When contacted, Kalpana's brother-in-law Pramod Tiwari said her organs were donated with his brother's consent.
