In addition to these departments, the Public Information Campaign activities of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) have also been integrated with these units for greater synergy, as per an order issued by the ministry.
A senior I&B Ministry official said the merger of these publicity departments came after a committee comprising senior officials had suggested integrating them to improve functioning.
The order has been issued after approval from the highest level in the ministry, the official added.
