Illegal mining: 2 labourers die in Rajasthan

Two labourers, including a woman, were killed after a portion of Takli riverbed collapsed when they were illegally mining sand and gravel in Kota district, police said today.
The incident took place yesterday when six labourers were illegally loading a trolley with gravel and sand at the riverbed in Chechat area, they said.
According to police, it was during the mining that a portion of the riverbed caved in, leading to the death of two labourers.
Police said Pramod Jat (30) died on the spot, while Guddibai Kevat, who was referred to a district hospital, succumbed during the treatment.
Bodies of the deceased were handed over to the family members after post-mortem, the the official added.
On the basis of the complaint filed by deceased's brother, police has registered a case against the trolley owner, identified as Monu Gujjar, and is investigating the matter for further details.
