The International Monetary Fund chief says she sees subdued global growth ahead even with signs of recovery in major economies such as the US and Europe.
Christine Lagarde spoke today to the US Chamber of Commerce, a few weeks before the IMF is to release its latest global economic forecasts at the lending agency's semi-annual meeting in Washington.
She said advanced economies are in a better place than they were six months ago with US growth picking up and Europe emerging from a long recession. But developing countries that helped keep the global economy afloat during the recent economic crisis are now slowing down.
