Imperial India is the new highlight of Sotheby's exhibition

Auction house Sotheby is organising a exhibition in the Qatari capital giving fascinating insights into artistic traditions of Imperial India and the Islamic world.
The exhibition, being held from 12-14 September in Doha, is featuring a selection of artistic chosen from 281 exceptional objects to be offered for sale in its "Arts of the Islamic World" and "Art of Imperial India" sales in London scheduled for October 9.
The pieces represent the very best of what will be sold in London, and provide captivating glimpses into Muslim history and culture, encompassing almost 1,400 years of every kind of art produced in lands under Islamic patronage from Spain to India.
October 9 auction will offer collectors high-quality and beautiful paintings, textiles, weaponry and luxurious works of art from the courts of the Indian subcontinent.
Treasured solid gold diamond-set enamelled gold tray and casket dating from the 18th century and valued at British Pound 200,000-300,000 and a gold and enamelled diamond-set sarpech valued at British Pound 35,000-45,000 among other precious artistic constitute highlights of the "Art of Imperial India" sale in Doha.
A Mughal jade, a gold and gem-set dagger estimated at British Pound 20,000-25,000 and an impressive 18th-century sword with a tiger-head pommel captured from Tipu Sultan's fortress at Seringapatam, Mysore, in 1799, which is estimated at British Pound 80,000-120,000, will also be available for sale.
