Tourism is one of the most potential areas where India can invest, apart from education and agro industries, Seychelles High Commissioner William Waven today said and stressed the need for direct connectivity between the two nations.
"Tourism is one of the areas which has very high potential in terms of investment for India. We think that lack of direct connectivity between both the countries is a roadblock for people to people contact and bussiness to business contact between both the nations," said Waven on the sidelines of a program here in Kolkata.
He said that with several prominent tourism destinations in South East Asia getting saturated, Seychelles must step up efforts to have easier connectivity with Kolkata and India.
"We are even open to the idea of holding dialogue with low-cost airliners such as Indigo and Spicejet. We need to do a lot of value-additions, too, by setting up swanky restaurants, shopping malls and leisure parks in the existing 15-20 islands. That will certainly grab the fancy of tourists in this region and galvanise the industry in both countries," he said.
The other potential areas for investment in Seychelles are renewable energy, machinery manufacturing, ICT, financial services food processing & agri products, he said.
