The high criminal court yesterday convicted the man.
The man assaulted the boy when he came to his shop to buy yogurt, Gulf Daily News reported.
The man confessed to the crime and said "the devil" told him to assault the boy, the paper said.
"The devil was playing with my mind and told me to do it. So I did it," he said in his statement to prosecutors.
The family dropped the charges against the man, but the court continued the trial, saying ,"Even if the victim's family drops charges in such cases, it does not matter as the court has to continue with the trial."
The court also ordered his deportation after he completes his sentence.
