Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that Indo-Pak cooperation was the key to resolve all problems of the region and added that his party's roadmap was the only way to establish lasting and sustainable peace in the sub-continent.
"Indo-Pak cooperation is the key to resolve all problems of this region.Peace and cordial relations are in the interest of both countries," Mufti said at a programme here to welcome some political activists from Surankote area of Poonch district to the party fold.
The PDP's roadmap is the only way to establish lasting and sustainable peace in the sub-continent, he said, adding that his party has pioneered a political and economic agenda to establish sustainable peace and to fulfil wishes and aspirations of all regions and sub-regions of the state.
"The peace initiatives started after the formation of the PDP-led regime in the state is an irreversible process and there is no alternative to this process", he said.
He emphasized the need to carry forward peace initiatives and to expand the process of cross-LoC cooperation and trade in Jammu and Kashmir.
While observing that ruling National Conference (NC) has lost its credibility due to the wrong policies being pursued by present government, Mufti said, "It is very unfortunate that the present regime has failed to carry forward the agenda of peace."
"Previous NDA regime headed by Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the present UPA government led by Manmohan Singh had whole-heartedly supported the initiatives taken by PDP regime for establishing sustainable peace in this region," he said.
Mufti promised to set up a medical college in Poonch if PDP comes to power in the next Assembly elections. "I had made this commitment in 2008 assembly elections and today I again repeat this promise," he said.
