The bird had injured its left leg and sustained minor wounds on its beak and neck.
A Wildlife SoS team safely transferred the peacock back to their rescue facility in Gurgaon where it is currently undergoing medical treatment.
"I found the peacock sitting on a tree but after a while it flew down to the lawn. That is when I noticed that the bird was injured and its left leg was bleeding. So I immediately contacted Wildlife SOS on their helpline number," B B Sunar, the caretaker who placed the call, said.
"The Wildlife SOS rescue team works round the clock within the Delhi-NCR region to rescue distressed urban wildlife, such as this peacock," he said.
The peacock is currently at the Wildlife SOS rescue facility where our veterinarians are looking into its treatment, he said.
Delhi still has a few patches of forest that are home to such unique wildlife and it is essential that we remain sensitive to the presence of wild animals in the national capital region, said Geeta Seshamani, co-founder of Wildlife SOS.
