BJP candidate from the Amethi Lok Sabha seat Smriti Irani today took a dig at Congress vice president and sitting MP Rahul Gandhi during her campaign in Gauriganj assembly segment of the constituency.
The actor-turned-BJP leader questioned when Rahul could not fulfil promises of development despite having his party at the Centre how would he do so when he is ready to sit in the opposition, and asked the people to vote for BJP.
She said her party will form the next government at the Centre and promised to bring in development to the area.
Irani held a series of street-corner meetings in the Gauriganj Assembly segment, and appealed to the people to vote for BJP to solve the problems facing the people.
Irani is pitted against Gandhi and AAP's Kumar Vishwas. Amethi goes to polls on May 7.
