Isuzu India's facility at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh to manufacture pick-up trucks would start operations by April next year.
A delegation led by Isuzu India Managing Director Takashi Kikuchi met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here today to update him on the progress with the manufacturing facility, a state government release said.
During the meeting, Kikuchi informed Naidu that the company will manufacture pick-up trucks at the facility and that it would start operations by April 2016.
Isuzu has set up the facility in Sri City with an initial investment of Rs 1,500 crore.
Kikuchi, who met the Chief Minister in Japan last year, informed today that nearly 75 suppliers are keen to invest in Andhra Pradesh.
"We will require the government to drive ancillary industries too," the Isuzu executives requested the Chief Minister.
Replying to their suggestion, Naidu said the government will come up with a policy for ancillary industries in the next Cabinet meeting.
The Chief Minister said the state will also identify clusters within Sri City and in other areas of the state where ancillary industries would be set up.
Meanwhile, Isuzu executives informed Naidu that the unit will provide around 1,500 jobs to locals.
Naidu briefed them that he wants to make Nellore-Chennai-Tirupati the automobile hub on the lines of Tokyo-Kawasaki-Yokohama trio cities.
