Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today stressed the need for extending activities of State Bharat Scouts and Guides to the remote and far-flung areas to bring a much larger number of youth under the ambit of the movement.
"All required initiatives need to be taken to strengthen the Scouts and Guides movement in the state," Vohra said interacting with a group of Scouts and Guides which called on him at Raj Bhavan here to felicitate him on his appointment for the second term.
Vohra said more national-level Scouts and Guides events should be organised in the state particularly as these would provide a very good opportunity for our boys and girls to meet and interact with their counterparts from other parts of the country, adding that such interactions go a long way in promoting camaraderie and deeper understandings.
The group was led by state chief of Bharat Scouts and Guides N A Khan who briefed the Governor about the activities undertaken in the recent months and those planned during the rest of the year, an official spokesman said.
Khan said a six-day National Integration Camp will be held in September at Boniyar in Uri township of north Kashmir in which 500 Scouts and Guides from various parts of the country will participate.
The spokesman said the Governor accepted Khan's request to inaugurate the National Integration Camp at Boniyar.
The Scouts and Guides presented to the Governor two congratulatory scrolls signed by the functionaries of the organisation and Scouts and Guides, the spokesman said, adding they also presented to him a photo album of the various functions of Scouts and Guides held at Raj Bhavan during the past four years, as a memorabilia.
