According to another release, Jayalalithaa formally inaugurated the newly constructed Kalaivanar Arangam costing Rs 62.73 crore, which was demolished during the previous DMK regime.
Earlier, the Chief Minister had said in the state assembly that her government would construct a new building at the existing place, the release said.
About 200 four-wheelers and 500 two-wheelers can be parked at the venue, while the building would house government offices and canteens in ground and first floors.
Jayalalithaa also launched a new building constructed for the Information and Public Relations department at a cost of Rs 2.58 crore, the release added.
