Retired army personnel Swaran Dass Choudhary said his 34-year-old son Rajesh Kumar, who had been working with a private construction company in Iraq since September 2012, could not be traced.
"We are very worried about his whereabouts. His mobile phone is switched off. After we heard the news of abduction of 40 Indians in Iraq, our fear has grown," Choudhary said.
"He told us that the situation in Iraq was bad. He has asked his company to book a return ticket for him, so that he can return to India, but his company had refused," Raj said, and added since that day his phone has been unreachable.
Rajesh's family today pleaded to the government to seek their support in securing the release of their son.
"We are going to meet Divisional Commissioner and inform him about our case to seek support of the central government in securing release of our son," Raj added.
