Ashwani Kumar surrendered before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate last evening and was sent to judicial custody.
Kumar kidnapped Sukhdev on October 8 when the minor was returning home on a cycle after school, SSP Moga, Surjit Singh Grewal, told reporters.
Kumar took the boy to a hotel in Jalandhar and tried to kill him there, he said adding, hearing his cries the hotel staff rescued the minor while Kumar managed to escape.
The hotel staff, later, handed over the child to Jalandhar police.
On the information provided by the minor, police registered a case of kidnapping and attempt to murder against Kumar, Grewal said.
