Pratik Patodia, who is said to be in his 40s, got down at Jharsuguda railway station this morning.
Police said he was supposed to go to Ashok Multi Yarns Limited near Kirei in Sundergarh. Though he got down from the train at 9.30 AM, he reportedly moved in a van driven by his driver Rohit Tanty.
As his employees at the factory inquired about his arrival, they launched a search operation. His vehicle was found near Beramahal, on the State Highway-10, few kilometres away from the Sundergarh-Jharsuguda border.
There was no trace of the driver and Patodia. Police recovered the sun glasses of Patodia.
Kanodia said, "We got the information around mid-day about the abduction of the businessman".
He said two teams have been formed to look into the case.
"We have some definite clue on the crime and we are working on it," Kanodia added.
