"Honourable Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu has taken an initiative to promote delicious Konkan cuisine on the Konkan Railway route for the delight of the passengers," Siddheshwar Telugu, Chief PRO of Konkan Railway Corporation Limited, said in a press note here.
"These products are prepared by self-help groups associated with cottage industries. They are being sold through Konkan Meva stalls at railway stations on the Konkan Railway route," he said.
"Twelve Konkan Meva stalls have now been provided at Khed, Chiplun, Kamathe, Savarde, Aravali Road, Sangameshwar Road, Nivsar, Vilavade, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Nandgaon Road and Kudal," Telugu said.
"This will not only help to promote the local delicious cuisine of Konkan items, but will also generate employment among the locals through self-help groups in the Konkan region," he added.
