Lead down by 0.4% on subdued spot demand

A weakening trend in base metals also affected prices

Lead prices eased by 0.36%, or 45 paise, to Rs 123.70 per kg in futures trade today due to subdued spot demand and weak global cues.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the June month contract of lead fell by 45 paise, or 0.36%, to Rs 123.70 per kg in a business turnover of 29 lots.

The May month contract of the metal declined by 30 paise, or 0.24%, to Rs 122.80 per kg in 472 lots.

Marketmen said the fall in lead futures was due to a subdued demand from battery-makers in domestic markets and a weakening trend in base metals at Shanghai Futures Exchange.
