Local leader shot at, critical

"Babu Qureshi, a candidate in the Nagar Panchayat election, was shot at yesterday by some men in car; a bullet has hit his abdomen," Senior Superintendent of Police P Gulab Singh said.

He was rushed to a government hospital and was later referred to a Noida hospital in critical condition, he said.

Protesting against the incident, his supporters blocked the Khurja-Jewar road till late last night, Singh added.
