Madgaon resident booked for allegedly harassing his wife

A Madgaon resident has been booked for allegedly harassing his 42-year-old wife for dowry and throwing her out of the house, the police said here today.
Police sub-inspector N S Patil of the Naupada police told PTI here today that between September 2013 and November 2013 Rajhans Desai allegedly harassed his wife Prajakta for dowry.
Prajakta's complaint stated that her husband wanted Rs 17 lakh from her parents for purchasing a bunglow in Goa and when she expressed her inability to fulfill his demand, he allegedly beat her up and locked her up in the house and then finally drove her out of the house, the police said.
The complaint also added that ornaments given to her during her wedding were also taken away by her husband.
He has been booked under sections 498-A, 323, 504, 506 and 402 of the Indian Penal Code the police said, adding that the Naupada police are probing the case.
