Maharashtra and Goa Circle of Postal Department has sent a proposal to Ministry of Communication for setting up of a Postal Training Centre (PTC) in Nashik.
Currently, on an average 400-500 candidates for Induction Training and approximately 2,500 officials and employees for mid-career training from Maharashtra/Goa, Gujarat, Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh visit the PTC in Vadodara, which is the sole training centre for staffers of the four states.
The official said on an average Rs 70 to 75 lakh is incurred as expenditure on TA/DA for various training sessions for officials of these states.
Chief Post Master General of Maharashtra, Goa Circle, Ashok Kumar Dash said that setting up PTC in Nashik is a good idea to boost effective functioning of the department and the proposal has received in-principle approval from the headquarters in Delhi.
"We have received in-principle approval for the training centre and awaiting final nod from the headquarters," Dash said.
Maharashtra-Goa Circle officer has submitted proposal for setting up of new training centre in Nashik, which is equipped with all pre-requisite infrastructure, the senior official said.
"We have also highlighted that how a vacant space is available at the Nashik Postal Store Depot and the place would be better suited geographically as training centre because it is also well-connected by road and rail with all the regional headquarters," he said.
The official also apprised that in order to construct the state-of-art training centre in Nashik, the Circle will need a fund of Rs 15 crore and the existing postal store depot there can be utilised as hostel.
