Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today challenged the Opposition to fight her politically and on the development front instead of resorting to a "smear campaign".
Addressing an election rally here under Alipurduar district on the fourth day of her poll campaign in north Bengal, Banerjee said that the Opposition had resorted to this tactics (smear campaign) after failing to counter her politically.
She branded the alliance of the CPI-M and the Congress as an "unholy nexus", saying she had the support of people.
"Those who took the state back by decades are spreading hate, falsehood and negativity now," she said.
The TMC supremo said her government would never allow Bengal to be divided and would maintain peace and harmony.

"I have come to Birpara often in the past. I love this
place. I love coming to North Bengal in general. We have showered our love on the people of the Hills. In the past no government worked for the Hills so much," Banerjee said.
Pointing out that her government created the district of Alipurduar for better development, Banerjee said that her government fulfilled long-standing demand of the area.
"From ITIs, polytechnic colleges to fair price shops and Kisan Mandis, we are working for all-round development," she said.
"We took over Dunlop and Jessop because we care for the welfare of workers. We will not allow innocent workers and labourers to suffer because of the Central government," she said.
Stating that her government was working for the welfare of tea garden workers, Banerjee explained the benefits her government offered to tea garden workers.
