The accused, Vimal Bhatt, claimed to be a 2010-batch IPS officer. He visited Dwarka (South) police station this morning in a Scorpio car bearing a UP registration number, police said.
He was carrying a wireless set and a fake ID card of an assistant commissioner of police issued by home ministry.
Police have also seized the Scorpio car with a police sticker on both front and rear windows and fitted with siren, two PAN cards with different names and different dates of birth have been recovered from his possession.
Bhatt claimed he was investigating a money laundering case after receiving complaint of one Pankaj Jain, a resident of Janakpuri, police said.
He claimed that the accused in the case is one Santosh Kumar, who is a resident of Dwarka.
But investigation revealed that the accused forced inspector Mukesh to call Santosh Kumar for questioning.
But the inspector smelt something fishy and started questioning him. After questioning, it was found that he is also engaged in preparing fake marksheets, they added.
