In a bizarre case, a 73-year-old man was saved from making a possible suicide attempt at a Delhi Metro station here after he declared his desire to take the extreme step to the on-duty staff.
Officials said the incident was reported yesterday at about 7:30 PM from the Tilak Nagar station when he approached the customer care kiosk and allegedly told the staffers that he wanted to commit suicide and was going to the platform area to execute the act.
They said the on-duty staff immediately alerted CISF security personnel present on the station who rushed in and intercepted the passenger and escorted him back from the platform area.
"The man was upset due to some domestic issues. He was counselled and his daughter and son-in-law were called by the CISF staff. They soon came to the station control room and took their father with them," they said.
