Man held with 8 kg poppy husk in J-K

A man was arrested by the Kathua police while he was allegedly trying to smuggle poppy straw, a police spokesperson said.
Acting on specific information, the driver of a car was asked to stop, and upon checking of the vehicle, eight kg poppy straw was recovered, he said.
The accused, identified as Sarabjeet Singh, a resident of Ludhiana in Punjab, has been taken into custody, the spokesperson said.
A case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered, he said, adding that further investigations are on in the case.
