Additional Sessions Judge of Kalyani, Ashim Kumar Das pronounced the punishment of Nikhil Sutradhar, a resident of Bethuadahari in the district, for kidnap, rape and sale of a 16-year-old girl of Chakdaha on Wednesday.
If the fine is not paid, the jail term would be extended by six more months, the court said.
The girl went missing on 20 February, 2011. Her brother received a missed call from Goa on 4 March that year and when he called back it was found that she was kidnapped by Nikhil and first sold in Godhra in Gujarat and was later taken to Goa.
