After receiving the information, Fatehgarh Sahib SSP Gurmeet Singh Randhawa and other police officials reached on the spot and launched an investigation into the case.
The woman, identified as Munal, was allegedly killed by her father-in-law Deepak Sapra.
Based on the statement of woman's father Anil Bhalla, police have registered a case against the woman's husband Sayam Sapra, mother-in-law Prem Lata and sister-in-law Chandni.
Bhalla said his daughter was married to Sayam around 4 years ago. He alleged that her in-laws used to harass her for dowry.
He allegedly committed suicide by jumping in the canal, police said.
The SSP said the police is thoroughly investigating the case and raids are being conducted to arrest all the accused.
