A man who allegedly killed his live-in partner over a tiff about cooking food, and then kept her body in an almirah for several days was arrested in Adarsh Nagar area of northwest Delhi, police said today.
The accused Shiv Nandan strangulated his middle-aged live-in partner Anita on Friday night after a quarrel between the two. He was furious with Anita for not cooking good food and killed her, said a police officer.
After strangulating Anita, Shiv wrapped her in a bed sheet and kept the body in an almirah of their bedroom. The neighbours noticed the foul smell on Sunday night and informed police, the officer said.
Shiv Nandan was arrested and a case of murder was registered against him at Adarsh Nagar police station.
Anita had two sons, one of whom Neeraj lived with the couple.
She had met Shiv Nandan in jail where she was lodged in connection with the death of her husband about a decade ago. Shiv Nandan used to visit jail to see her sister who was also an inmate of the jail, he said.
After being released from jail, Anita moved into Shiv Nandan's accommodation in Majlis Park area of Adarsh Nagar. Neighbours of the couple said that they were passing through a rough phase in their relationship and often quarrelled over minor issues.
The body of the victim was sent for post mortem examination and further investigations were going on, said the police officer.
