Krishan Gupta (35) was arrested from the spot at about 11 pm yesterday.
"Satya Prakash lived in the area along with his wife Gaytri and son Krishan, who was unemployed and alcoholic. He used to often demand money for liquor and had arguments with his father over the issue," said a police official.
On Thursday night, Krishan demanded money from Satya Prakash for liquor following which the father scolded him for not searching a job and being addicted to liquor.
Hearing the commotion, Gayatri rushed to the spot and saw her husband lying dead in a pool of blood.
Krishan tried to run away but Gaytri shouted for help and he was nabbed by the neighbours who called the police handed him over to them.
"We arrested Krishan and lodged an FIR against him. He has confessed to his involvement in the crime. Spade used in the crime has also been recovered from the spot," the official said.
