The man, from R S Puram area in the city, had come to the Collectorate to submit a petition on Grievances day and said he had suffered heavy loss in business for the last few years, police said.
He wanted to meet the Collector to submit a petition in a bid to get his problems solved.
He suddenly took out some sleeping pills, swallowed them and soon fainted. Members of the public and police rushed him to the Government Hospital where he is being treated, police said.
