Kandola was arrested from Dwarka Link Road near NH-8 on August 11 based on a specific tip-off that he would be coming in a BMW car, police said.
During his arrest, police also arrested 411 grams of high quality heroin, 2.75 grams of a psychotropic substance and 250 grams of Ephedrine. Also, three semi-automatic sophisticated fire arms alongwith 15 live cartridges were also recovered.
Punjab Police had approached the Delhi Police for help in arresting Kandola after he escaped from police net following unearthing of a narcotics drug manufacturing unit in Jalandhar in June.
Police arrested Kandola and his aide Sukhjinder Singh and recovered two pistols of 0.32 bore alongwith 10 live cartridges and 411 gms of heroin from their possession.
During interrogation, he disclosed that he studied upto Class VIth and thereafter his parents sent him abroad. He came back to India in the year 2002 and met Kulwinder Singh Maan, a passport agent from Punjab and got involved in sending people abroad.
In 2002, Kandola and Maan were arrested in Harare in Zimbabawe while taking 15 illegal immigrants to Zimbabwe.
"In jail he came in contact with one Serbian National, Juan alias Johan Milan lodged in jail in a drug related case and expressed his interest in drug trafficking in India and both shared their addresses and contact numbers," Sanjeev Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, said.
After his release, Kandola came back to India in 2004 and was arrested for sending manpower abroad on forged documents.
"While in Tihar jail he came in contact with Sonu who was undergoing jail term in a robbery case and they started a business of real estate in Delhi and Punjab," he said.
