The bomb disposal squad flown by a special helicopter from Cuttack and Bhubaneswar defused the three landmines.
The land mines were detected by the BSF personnel during their routine patrolling yesterday in Sikhapalli and Hatapada road under Malkanigiri police limits, the sources said.
Security personnel were guarding the place after recovery of the landmines since yesterday.
On August 9, 2001, Maoists attacked Kalimela and Mottu police stations in which a sub-inspector of police and three other policemen were killed. Two red rebels including Maoist commander Kranti Randev of Andhra Pradesh, were also killed in the incident.
"Kranti Divas" has been observed every year on August 9 in memory of Randev since 2002, the sources said.
