Maoists set on fire machines for non-payment of levy

The Naxals barged into the village last night and set on fire a road slider machine of a private construction company carrying out construction of road between between Atri and Khijarsarai areas, the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Md Safiul Haque said.

The MCC had demanded levy of seven per cent cost of the road project which the construction company refused to part following which the ultras burnt its equipment worth lakhs of Rupees, he said.

A case has been registered in this connection, Haque said.
