Along with "Super Mom" Mary, her Manipur state mate L Sarita Devi, who won silver and bronze medals respectively in last year's Commonwealth and Asian Games, has also commenced her training in the southern city along with Sumit Sangwan, said a media release from Olympic Gold Quest which supports all three boxers.
Sarita underwent a wrist surgery last November here while 22-year-old London Olympian Sangwan, who fights in the 81 kg weight category, had also undergone thumb surgery two months back.
Sangwan is preparing for the Asian Boxing Championships in August followed by the World Championship in October which is an Olympic qualifier.
Mary Kom, who won bronze in the London Games, and Sarita too are preparing for the Women's World Championship in February, 2016, which is a qualifier for next year's Rio Olympic Games.
"As for Mary, she is working on her fitness, strength and endurance right now. Her attitude to training is top class. She has just one goal in mind - Gold at Rio 2016," he added.
