The GLA 45 AMG is the ninth offering from the luxury car major, which had said in the beginning of the year that it would roll out 10 models this calender year.
Mercedes-Benz India, which reported 16 per cent rise in its sales during the January-September period to 7,529 units, is optimistic of a double-digit growth and cross the 10,000 units mark in 2014, managing director and chief executive Eberhard Kern said after the launch.
The GLA 45 AMG is the fourth AMG model to be launched here this year. Its SUV portfolio now stands at five model in the domestic market.
Its domestic product line comprises the locally produced S, E, C, GL and M-Classes and the completely built imported models like the A, CLS, SLK-Class and the luxury tourer B-Class, apart from the iconic off-roader G-63 AMG as well as a wide range of other AMG performance cars like the CLA45 AMG, C63 AMG, E63 AMG, SLK55 AMG, GL63 AMG and ML63 AMG.
The luxury car-maker is in the process of doubling production capacity at its Chakan plant to 20,000 units per annum from the current 10,000 units, at an investment of Rs 250 crore.
"We also announced early this year that we will see double growth in 2014. In the first nine months. We have already logged in over 16 percent growth till September, so we are well on track to achieve double digit growth this year," Kern said.
The GLA 45 AMG is the ninth product in the series of 10 products that the company had announced to launch in this year, he said adding, "we will come out with the 10th and the last offering for this year shortly.
