Mercury dips after widespread rains in HP

Temperatures fell across Himachal Pradesh due to widespread rains, while high altitude tribal areas witnessed light snowfall, MeT department officials said today.
Kalpa was the coldest with temperatures at 8.2 degree Celsius.
Keylong followed with 11.9 degree, Manali 12.6, Shimla 14.3, Dharamsala 15.6, Nahan 16.9, Palampur 17.0, Bhuntar 17.4 Sundernagar 18.7 and Una 23.2.
Pachhad remained the wettest with 66 mm rainfall. Shimla witnessed intermittent light rains. Sky mostlyremained heavily overcast across the state, they said.
Sangrah 1 in Sirmaur district received 38 mm rainfall, Nadaun 34 mm, Paonta Sahib 31 mm. Jubbarhatti and Naina Devi received 30 mm each, and Dalhousie, Renuka and Shimla 24 mm each.
Sundernagar received 23 mm, Nahan 20 mm , Una 18 mm, Kangra 16 mm, Amb 15 mm, Nagrota Suriyan 14 mm , Kalpa 13 mm, Dehra Gopipur 12 mm , Hamirpur 11 mm, Kasauli and Mandi 9 mm each and Kalpa and Dharamshala8mm each.
The maximum day temperature dropped by around 6 degree Celsius from 34 degree Celsius
yesterday to 28.5 degree Celsius.
Dharamshala recorded maximum temperature of 27.8 degree Celsius, Solan 27.5, Nahan 26.1, Sundernagar 25.5, Bhuntar 25, Kalpa 19.6, Shimla 20.5 and Manali 19.6.
Himachal received 615 mm average rains from June 1 to September 22 against normal rainfall of 811.8 mm, recording a 24 per cent deficit.
Deficit at Lahaul and Spiti district was 76 per cent, Sirmaur 56 per cent, Kinnaur 54 per cent, Kangra 13 per cent. Seven other districts received nearly normal rains with 10 per cent deviation.
The local MeT office has predicted rains or thundershowers at few places in lower, mid and higher hills over next dour days.
