Himachal Pradesh Transport Minister GS Bali on Saturday appealed to employees of state-run Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) not to observe strike on June 14 and 15 as thousands would be affected.

He said even if some employees go ahead with the strike, the government will reward those who do not join it and report to duty on those days, adding that videography will be done at bus stands, workshops and depots to punish the "bad elements".

Talking to PTI here, the minister said 90% of the demands of HRTC employees have been accepted. Only those are pending with the Chief Minister which could not be entertained by the Transport Ministry and as such, there was no need for a strike.

He added that the HRTC Board of Directors met here today and accepted a number of demands of the employees.

He said only those cases of provident fund are pending where the previous BJP government had not deposited Rs 150 crore during the 2008-12 period.

The minister announced an increase in washing allowance for the employees from Rs 30 to Rs 60, release of Rs 20 crore for overtime payments and Rs 10 crore for payment of two special increments.

He also announced an increase in the benevolent fund from Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000 and said up-to-date pension shall be paid till June 30.
